So I made another test video. This time I wanted to compare the latency when using the same device over NDI. Using Newteks NDI technology. As a NDI source direct in OBS studio and by using a Raspberry Pi with Dicaffeine installed.

The idea for this came when I was watching a live stream from Aaron Paracki and someone (can not find who anymore) asked about using Dicaffeine to bring in NDI sources in the Atem Mini Pro.

For the test my smartphone a Samsung Galaxy A50 is used and a dedicated wireless network to minimize interferwnce from other devices.

The laptop running OBS Studio and the Raspberry Pi running dicaffeine both connected by ethernet cables in te router.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 runs Newteks NDI HX Camera app available in Google play store

Despite my previous post about using a Raspberry Pi to bring in NDI sources it the conclusion now is Dicaffeine is not usable for this. Better use NDI sources direct in OBS studio. I do not think the Raspberry Pi is the problem it is a 4GB Raspberry Pi 4. Of course we can install Dicafeinne on another, more powerful device. We might even try that once. But the bigger device makes it more work to take it with you.

Checkout the video and see it yourself.

I have more Ideas for test videos. But if you want me to test something concerning streaming and recording please let me know.
